A Powhatan resident burning trash outside of their home forced local firefighters to respond to the area on Tuesday evening after the fire reportedly spread to the person's home. Powhatan Fire crews responded to a residence on Anderson Highway after receiving a call shortly after 7 p.m. for a house fire. The fire reportedly started outside after the resident began burning trash. According to Powhatan Fire at the scene, the trash was burning unattended when it spread to the house.
