A 36-year-old Halifax woman was transported to Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital with minor injuries following a single-vehicle wreck that occurred shortly after noon Thursday in the 2000 block of Grubby Road in Halifax. According to Virginia State Troopers G. K. Brandes and T. B. Jones, Lashanee Mills was traveling in a four-door sedan when she ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree causing the car to catch on fire. Firefighters with Halifax Volunteer Fire Department responded with three trucks and brought the blaze under control. Brandes said Mills escaped the vehicle on her own before personnel arrived, and a passerby found her in the road.
