Vacant Danville house fire appears to have been set

The Danville Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a vacant house at 225 Purdum Road Friday night. Crews arrived at 11:30 p.m. and found a small, one-story house with smoke and fire on the outside of the structure. The fire was knocked down quickly and under control at 11:40 pm. The house sustained moderate fire, heat and water damage. The home was vacant at the time. The Danville Fire Department responded with three engines, a ladder truck, and seventeen firefighters. Crews were on the scene for 2 hours. No injuries were reported. The fire marshal’s office determined the cause to be incendiary.
