Richmond County’s first responders had a hectic holiday season and leaders of emergency medical services and the volunteer fire department praised their teams’ performance.
December was a very busy month, EMS chief Mitch Paulette told the board of supervisors.
The department had five flyouts, and three of them occurred on one day within four hours. “We had a call that involved flying two patients out and practically the very next call there was an incident that required that patient to be flown out,” he said.
In total, EMS answered 115 calls for service and conducted 66 transports last month. Within those totals, there were a number of high acuity calls that involved multiple patients, and other counties responded to assist with several of those.
