Firefighters responded to a home in Albemarle County on Monday evening after a fire broke out in the chimney. The homeowner says he had just recently purchased the house, which used to be a bed and breakfast, on Scottsville Road. He called firefighters as smoke started to build up inside the house. "We were having a fire," said David, the homeowner. "We were just having a fire, and apparently the chimney caught on fire." The Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue says the fire was quickly put out in the fireplace and chimney. There was minimal damage to the structure and no injuries were reported. Officials urge all homeowners to get their chimney checked before starting a fire for the first time this season.
