First responders battle brush fire in Campbell County

PHOTOS: Campbell County crews were called out early Tuesday morning to battle a brush fire in the Altavista area. According to the Altavista Fire Company, firefighters — along with members of the Department of Forestry –were called out to the 1700 block of Tardy Mountain Road at approximately 4:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30. When units arrived at the scene, the company says they found a large brush fire approximately 30 feet from a home. The Evington Volunteer Fire Department was reportedly brought in to provide extra manpower and a tanker. Just after 7 a.m. on Tuesday, officials announced the fire was contained and crews were hitting hot spots before clearing out.
