VIDEO: Camp LIT is returning for its 5th year in June. Camp LIT stands for leadership, integrity, and trailblazer. It is an all-girl day camp to learn about careers as a first responder. Fiona Albertson, Fire and Life Safety Specialist for Rockingham County Fire and Rescue, said it is important to show girls that being a first responder is a viable option for a career path. “Historically those are male-dominated fields, and we just feel that by exposing the girls to other options they have a better idea of what is available to them,” said Albertson. Albertson said giving young ladies more exposure to opportunities that are available in community service, the more informed decisions they can make about their futures.
