Five children and three adults are displaced after a fire Thursday, according to the Danville Fire Department. Crews responded around 3 p.m. to the duplex at 155 Marshall Terrace. They found light smoke coming from the rear of the building and confirmed the fire was coming from the center-rear of the inside of the house, extending into the spaces between the walls and floors, and into the bathrooms on the second floor, burning through to the exterior rear wall. According to the Danville Fire Department, the fire affected both apartments in the duplex, displacing the family of each apartment. Five children and three adults were displaced by the fire. Firefighters rescued a pet hamster from an upstairs bedroom. The fire remains under investigation by the fire marshal’s office.
