PHOTOS: More than a dozen people and eight animals were displaced as a result of what fire officials deemed an accidental fire to an apartment building in the 600 block of Pheasant Run Thursday, a fire official said. The fire, which damaged eight apartment units, started in a trashcan on the second-floor stairwell of the apartment building from discarded smoking material, and the fire is no longer under investigation, according to Barbara Morrison, a public information officer with the Virginia Beach Fire Department. No one was reported injured, she said. Virginia Beach Fire Department responded to the fire just before 4 p.m. WAVY Chopper 10 also got footage of the scene. Images from the scene show heavy flames coming from the roof of the residence.
