The Eureka Fire Department in York County said Saturday's fire was the largest in their history.
The massive six-alarm fire broke out overnight, destroying a former furniture factory in Stewartstown.
The flames caught the attention of many that morning. Neighbors told CBS21 News' Maxine Rose that they were left in disbelief, wondering what happened at a building that has been in the community for so long.
“The power shut off and I looked out the window and I was like, ‘What’s going on?'” said local resident Olivia Pack alongside her mom, Dixie.
"Unbelievable," said Ed Fite, who lives down the road from the factory. Tall flames and thick smoke could be seen a half mile out, said the Packs.
“It was just a big mushroom cloud and it just kept rolling and rolling," Dixie Pack said.
